    Hi,

I'm looking at the ASUS Zenbook UX303LN-DB71T laptop. Is it possible to replace the drive with a Samsung 500GB 840 EVO mSATA drive?

    Thanks

    Welcome to our forum :)

From what I have gathered, your laptop has a half-sized msata (msata mini) slot.
You can see the form factor here: Solid State Storage Form Factors | Storage Networking Industry Association

The dimensions for Samsung EVO 850 can be seen in the specification tab here: SAMSUNG 840 EVO MZ-MTE500BW mSATA TLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) - Newegg.com
Sadly, the answer appears to be no

P.S.: Thread was moved to the appropriate subforum so more people with the proper experise could look at it.

Wait for Sandisk U110 mSATA mini to appear in market , it is available only for OEMS . The m2 drive in the caddy seems to be U110 Sandisk in m2 form factor

If the U110 is anything like the U100 then I wouldn't buy it even if it was half the cost of anything else. The U100 is the only SSD I have come across which could temporarily cause a computer to freeze. I doubt if Sandisk would use similar numbering unless there was a lot in common between the two products.

However, this review of the UX303 clearly shows that the slot is an unusual half-mSATA size so the Samsung EVO series won't fit. It looks like you stuck with whatever Sandisk offer and probably have the 256GB limit.
