I've been looking at things to upgrade on my Acer Aspire 5315 and one thing that I would really love would be a multicard reader (as the USB ones aren't very practical due to bulk and how easy they are to lose). I have never used my ExpressCard slot nor will I ever.

In short, I was wondering if there was any way that I could take out the ExpressCard slot and install some kind of multicard reader? I used the search function but I was unable to find anything asking to do something like this. Also, I am new here so please be nice and if I posted this in the wrong place, let me know.

Due to the way Expresscard is typically integrated into a motherboard, it would be difficult. What would be easier would be to simply buy an Expresscard multicard reader (like this one on Amazon, intended as an example only), plug it in, and use it that way.

Yup I would follow what Judicator said. ExpressCard is supposed to have multiple connectors available, like USB 3, LAN, FireWire, e-SATA and the lists goes on.

Thanks guys. I was trying to find something like that but I kept finding adapters to read the ExpressCard through USB.
