    Hi,

I want to replace the CD rom drive in my samsung r65. Getting at the hard drive and memory is no problem but the CDRom seems a little more involved. Does anyone have any pointers? I'd just rather not take the whole thing apart if I don't have to!

    Thanks
    Matt

The pictures of the R65 suggest considerable similarity to the X60 series, where the screw retaining the optical drive is under the keyboard. Releasing the keyboard involves turning the computer over, removing the relevant screws (3?, maybe marked "KBD") then putting the computer back the right way, opening it and releasing some spring-loaded catches around the edge of the keyboard so that you can carefully lift it up and flip it over (watch out for the ribbon cable).
