I have an ASUS M51SE or ASUS X56S depending on what site you look it up on, it seems to go by 2 different names.

Anyways, a while back I smashed my LCD and had to replace it. This worked all fine and dandy, but before the smash I was using a resolution of 1440x900 and now I am only able to use 1280x800. Now I didn't even think to check when I purchased a new LCD that it could support 1440x900...

Is there anyway to get this resolution by force, or will it damage the panel. Also out of interest... where can you buy 1440x900 15.4" replacement LCDs from?

    Thanks.

i'm afraid you can't force an LCD to display a resolution higher than its native res. if you want 1440x900, you'll have to buy a new screen. check ebay.

No, the monitor is limited to the number of pixels it has - no way to get a higher resolution. Your best bet is probably to resell the screen and buy a new one.

That's the problem with most laptop screens, they are limited with resolution display..
