Welcome jksoul to the NBR forums. :)

Any internal 2.5" SATA hard drive should work on the HP dv6500 series notebooks, including the one you linked to. I personally would recommend buying a known brand such as Seagate, Western Digital, Toshiba, or Hitachi.

If you need assistance replacing the hard drive, you can follow the brief guide at http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...ry&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&product=3369405.

Seagate isn't very reliable now.. so i would say western digital , hitachi or toshiba.. Hitachi seems to make drivers with the best performance so i'll go with Hitachi.
