She had an 80 GB Seagate Momentus 5400.2 ATA that died.![]()
My question is if this will replace it smoothly? I'm not the most knowledgeable about hard drives. So, will it work? The only differences I could see are the .3 instead of .2, and is the ATA-6 something different?![]()
Oh, actually, this one is 40 GB more for $4 more.![]()

ATA-6 is the interface, as in IDE
Dont bother spending money on that harddrive. You can get the Samsung HM160HC for the same price and it is a much faster drive.
The seagate you linked to can do 34mb/sec, whereas the Samsung drive can do 53mb/sec, and they are about the same price
Here is my review of the drive: (It is actually faster than the 7200rpm drives for the ATA interface)

You can get the drive for $53+ shipping on zipzoomfly:

or $56+shipping on lagoom:

If you do not like Samsung, than the Western Digital WD2500BEVE is a good option, It goes for about $80
