I own a Sony Viao CB laptop with the 15.6" LED 1080P screen that I recently cracked by accident. I ordered a new one from laptopscreen.com. The model number of the screen in my laptop is LP156WF1(TL)(C1). I just got the screen in the mail today and saw that it was (TL)(E2) not (TL)(C1) so I called the company and the guy told me that this is the exact same screen but that it was just the new make of the screen and assured me that it would work. I plugged the new screen in and screwed it back together, but when I turned it back on......nothing, just blank. Is there anything else I need to do? Thanks!

I can't help you much but i'll try.Did the connectors match? Also the screen could be faulty. I would remove it clean the contacts even in the laptop and try reconnecting again. Otherwise ask for a refund or another screen.

You can install your old broken display, put your laptop on standby, reinstall the new one and come out of standby again. If it works then there is an EDID problem and the seller you bought from just didn't know their stuff.
I'm not responsible for any damage you do to your laptop, but I can say that I've done this on a few laptops without causing any issues short or long term. -
My experience is the those sorts of screen sellers don't know anything and are just going by lists of what "should" work. The LG screen I bought to replace an LG screen was almost the same part number as well, and listed as "compatible". Well it was compatible alright, but only when booted in windows and only in 16-bit color mode. So I got a working screen, but had to manually switch back and forth to 16 and 32-bit color after every boot.
Did you allow a minute or two for the screen to show a windows screen instead of the BIOS and all that? Sometimes a "compatible" screen will only show in windows once it's booted, then you'll have to do that same 16->32 bit switch in display properties.
If it just doesn't display anything no matter what, I would agree that you should request a new screen, maybe after double checking the connections and that you have everything hooked up correctly. If the new screen gives the same result, it likely isn't compatible, and you'll need to search out a screen with the exact same model number as the old one.
I've found external monitors to be a much cheaper solution in the long run, at least in terms of just using it as a computer and not as a portable notebook. -

You know, the fact that they even have grounds to think about what "should" work says to me that they know a lot more than people who think they need a "Dell" screen and buy those off Ebay.
But yea, obviously it would be nice if they knew more.
@larrybird: does the backlight lightup?? -

No the backlight doesn't come on at all...nothing. It looks like I should call back again and see if I can return this screen. Very frustrated but taking it somewhere in town to get fixed is extremely expensive.

I have an Acer Aspire laptop and the screen is badly damaged. I am looking to purchase a replacement screen. However, I cannot find a one for the series model 5742-6690 (PEW71). Is there another replacement screen that may be compatible with this model?
The laptop's SNID is 10104938116.
Thanks.
