Are both processor B and C compatible with A?
If so, would I see a significant boost in performance?
What is stepping? Is it just another word for revision?
Thanks

Your best bet is choice B, because the PM is much better than the P4M. And yes, you will see a significant boost, not only from 500MHz, but from a much better core.

Don't forget to check to see if you need a bios update for the PM. I did the same swap (celeron M to a PM) on a toshiba without any problems.

Commander Wolf can i haz broadwell?
The Pentium 755 will almost certainly be compatible if your BIOS supports it. The 478 pin configuration of the P4M has the same pin count as socket M but one of the pins are displaced such that the chip is incompatible with socket M.
But if you ask me, there's no reason to get a P4M over a 755. -
Thanks to yall for the info. Boy those 755 are so expensive even on ebay. Time to select a lower freq processor.

Heh, I'm actually on the market for a Pentium 745/SL7EN myself. I've been waiting for anything under $50 for a few weeks now... unfortunately no to avail. If it keeps up I think I'll prolly start looking down to the 735/SL7EP.

just bought a 735/SL7EP for $45 US plus shipping bargain I say! The 745/SL7EN is still going for around $75 US while the 755 are like $180 ouch. Can't wait to pull the old 1.3ghz banias core and get the dothan boost!!
