I bought a replacement for my laptop screen (Chi Mei N141XC-L02 Rev C1, accidentally stepped on the screen). The screen I received was similar, but not identical (LTN141XA-L01). I've installed the screen, and it works during and after BIOS. I run linux (laptop is fairly old) and the OS starts fine - Grub works and I can get to the terminal. Whenever I start the X server the new screen turns black and doesn't display anything. If I swap the old screen back in it still works and the X server displays. I've reinstalled the OS with the new screen installed, and no luck. Does anyone have any clue why this might be happening? Are the screens not quite compatible? The laptop is quite old ( > 10 yrs), so might power draw be a problem?
