    Yes, but you are limited to the family processor, and your warranty will be void.

    hmmm...its a core solo and im thinking of going to core 2 duo but warranty voided
    and do i really need the upgrade?...

    That's something you have to ask yourself. How does the machine perform for you? Fast/Slow? Most people won't take advantage of a dual-core processor even if they had one (including myself).
