Hi i have had my laptop for about 11months now and seriously need more hard drive space. Basically I would like a clean install apart from i want to keep my documents. Is it simply a case of installing the hard drive and booting from the recovery discs I made when I first got my laptop? Can you point me in the right direction on making a partition for windows files and leaving the rest for documents programs etc.
    Many Thanks
The laptop is a Acer Aspire 5051AWXMi and has an IDE hard drive

Usually the recovery discs do not give you an option to partition though I am not super familiar with Acers.

I think you've got it all right..., but make sure that you make a copy of all the files/docs that you want into a usb drive or a CD/DVD before making a fresh install.

If you've got an enclosure or a similar device you can just copy your old files straight from the old drive.
