    Hello,

I have a client who has a Sony Vaio VGN-A290 that recently lost its video display on the monitor of the notebook. He has another A290 that is fully functional and wants to move the hard drive (which is fine) from the defective A290 to the fully-functional A290. I have not had a chance to look at the notebook myself yet.

When researching how to swap the hard drive of this unit, Sony proclaims that this unit does not have an end-user replaceable hard drive. In other words, it's not recommended for end users to change the hard drive, but rather have you send it into Sony to have it done. Eh, I don't think so.

Anyone have a clue on where this hard drive sits? Is it hard to get to? Has anyone swapped hard drives out of this unit or something comparable?

I really don't want to image the hard drive, then reimage back, it will take too long, but it's what I might have to do. I'd just rather swap the hard drive completely.

    Any thoughts?
