I am seriously considering buying a Vaio VGN-TX750P with a cracked screen and of course having it replaced.
I looked around for the screen part number and I'm quite sure it is A1154928A
and found a link where it is being sold here.

That price actually sounds too good to be true doesn't it? Because I saw LCDs4less.com selling the LCD for the Vaio T series for example for at least $300.
I live in Houston and would like a local shop to replace the screen for me. What would be a good place to go, how much would they charge and how long would it take?
I hear you can do it yourself but ever since I somehow killed my Fujitsu Lifebook P5020D merely by taking out the hard drive, I am deathly afraid of tinkering inside any electronics.
I am also worried that a repair shop would have quite a difficult time installing the screen due to the TX having a much thinner, different screen than most laptops.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thank you!!!

Screentek is located in Houston. They might be able to help you out.

Yeah, I talked to them but they said that they'd only replace the screen if it was bought from them, how silly of a policy is that?
Can someone tell me if the link I provided to that replacement LCD is the correct one for this laptop?
How much would a typical repair store charge though? -
I don't really know how much labor costs for that sort of thing. You might get in touch with Ivan over at P1 and ask him how much he charges for labor just to get an estimate of how much it should cost. He's done work for me a couple of times and seems very fair.
IDK how silly Screentek's policy is. They're a pretty respectable outfit and I can see them wanting to avoid an angry customer because they installed a cheap screen that had problems. I assume they're simply trying to protect their reputation and I guess the only way they could really guarantee their work would be to install only know good parts from a source they trust. -
Please, if anyone has any more info or advice, please tell me here.
Is the product listed below the LCD needed for the TX750P? I want to buy a used one with a cracked screen and replace the screen.

I hear that its quite easy to replace the screen yourself. Is there an illustrated guide on how to replace the screen, specifically of a Vaio TX?
And how much would a typical repair shop in Houston charge to replace the screen and how long should it take? Thanks again! -
rahulnirmal, I am with ScreenTek and here are the answers to your questions:
A1154928A is the correct sony part number.
The actual screen is made by Toshiba Matsu****a and their part number is LTD111EXCX. It is the 11.1" screen and is probably the most difficult screen to get brand new. We do not carry it because we prefer to carry brand new screens. My system is showing that two companies have it: Shamrock at 978-692-8080 and Laptop Parts Warehouse at 239-656-4421. FYI - Shamrock probably has better quality and customer service. When you ask for it, ask for it by the Toshiba Matsu****a part number as you may get a better price from them vs. if you ask for it by the Sony part number.
Regarding why we do not install a screen purchased from someone else is because we are not a repair shop like many companies; we are a screen supplier and we will install for free as a favor to any customers however we actually encourage everybody to do it themselves. In fact 90% of our end user customers do it themselves and you can probably do it yourself, too. Just type "laptop screen installation" into Google for instructions. Hope this helps.
