    Laptop: M570TU (Sager), GPU:9800m GT

Found a brand spanking new HP 8710w FX3600m card on the cheap.
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/HP-8710w-NB8E-GLM3-MXM-512m-FX3600m-Card-NEW-468592-001-/330856491458

Question is (I swear I won't ask anymore) it seems like it should work in an M570TU, as many people here have done. But it seems like it might have problems outputting to the screen, and I would need to flash it to a 9800m GT vbios. Problem is I've never done it, and I'd be doing it blind since I don't have an external monitor. Could someone help me out a bit with that?

EDIT: Found a general guide, http://forum.techinferno.com/general-notebook-discussions/2166-[guide]-nvidia-vbios-flashing.html , is there anything more to it than this?

That is a bit of a lengthy guide, and some of it is a little misleading...

Basically, you need to find the CORRECT version of nvflash which is made for DOS. The "newest version" is actually made for win7 (i think). There isn't much need to use it anyway since you're not dealing with new cards.

You need to make the flash drive bootable and put the files for nvflash directly on the drive, along with the vBIOS file. You can't use something weird like an Asus vbios.

Then your procedure would be to turn off the laptop, disconnect the power sources, install the card and restart with the flash drive and everything plugged in.

After it stops flashing, just type "nvflash -4 -5 -6 'file.rom'" or whatever your file is named. Then, you'll see some keyboard lights flash for several seconds. Wait maybe a minute to make sure its done then hit ctrl + alt + delete and it should work fine.

Oh and one more thing... do some searching. That isn't such a great price. :)

I made an offer for $145 and I got it for that and free shipping. I figured it might be worth it since it is new, otherwise I feel kinda dumb.
I just wanted to clarify a few things:
    1) I can just dump the VBIOS from my current 9800m GT and use that to flash over the 3600, right?
    2) What do you mean by "correct" version of nvflash? Could I not just download the latest one (say Download NVFlash 5.127 | techPowerUp) and just use that?

Again, thanks for all your help, I'm pretty sure I'd be lost without some of your posts.

$175 for such an old card is too steep if you ask me, even if it's brand new. I would wait for a better deal or better yet just save up for a new system.

Yea you should be able to just use the vBIOS you already have and when you restart you probably wont even have to reinstall drivers.

As for the version of nvflash... I have version 5.63 so uh, I dunno.
