I was with my grandparents for Mother's day, and since they have a four year old Compaq Armada E5000 which is very slow. So I took the thing apart, found out that it had a 700 megahertz Pentium 3 and 64MB of RAM. Since the RAM max was 512, I told him (grandad) to oder 2 x 256 Kingston 133 hertz sticks, and looked at some P3s. They were in the $50 range, so he got a new P3 1.2 gigahertz processor. After that I checked out the processor, and it seemed to be in the computer very tightly. I tried to carefully take it out, but I failed. I was just wondering how to get the thing out.

Are you sure the CPU is socketed?? If it is socketed have you unlocked the locking mechanism which should release the cpu. If the processor is not socketed then it might be soldered onto the socket and not upgradable.

It has no mechanisms holding it in place, I just hope that it is not soldered. It seems like it will come out with enough force, I did not want to test it out with only one CPU laying around.
