This is a total noob question, but is there anything I should know about swapping a regular laptop hard drive with a solid state flash drive? As long as the form factor is the same I can just swap one for the other, correct? At some point I would like to be able to replace a 5400 RPM drive with 128GB SSD drive when prices become more reasonable.

As long as you buy an SSD which has the same interface and thickness as your current mechanical harddrive (the 5400rpm one) you can make the switch.
SSD's are pretty expensive now, and hopefully the release of the OCZ core will help bring prices down. The 32gb core series are wround $130, with the 128gb drives around $550, so hopefully the prices drop down a lot more within the next year or so, cause $500 for a decent sized ssd is ridiculous.

Aslong as they are the same size (2.5") and interface (SATA) it should fit in, along with your current caddy
