I bought a 80gb internal hard drive a few years ago and placed it inside an external enclosure. Last week, I decided to upgrade so I bought a 160gb hard drive (More specifically: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136075). Only problem is that the new hd is SATA, but the interface on the external enclosure is IDE ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817145133). I should have checked when I bought the hard drive, I really don't know why I didn't... I'm kind of a newbie, but is there something that can convert between the two??

Nope, either return the drive or buy a new proper enclosure.

Ah, thanks. I suppose I'll just buy a SATA enclosure for future upgrades.

Yeah, I'd recommend buying a different enclosure. It would be a different story if you were using PATA, which could be transfered into SATA.
