I own a Vaio S54B (PCG-6H2N). The fan started to make weird, asthmatic noises. I just continued to use it and it works find, there is no overheat or anything, but the noise is very annoying and also I believe it's risky to continue working that way (if fan breaks completely....). This situation has been going on for some weeks and I am really fed-up with the annoying sound now.
So I want to replace the fan with a new one, myself. Is this something I can do in principle or will it be very complicated? To open the S54B, do I need special screwdrivers? How can I find out what fan I need? Before I open my laptop, I also would like to know if the fan is somehow soldered/glued to the motherboard or if I can replace it similar to a fan in a desktop?
So any info on exchanging a broken fan, especially in a Vaio S54B (PCG-6H2N), would be great.

Fans are often just screwed in place. its normally not that difficult to replace a fan, however, in some notebooks it can be tricky. You first need to find a replacement fan, and since notebook fans can generally only work in one notebook, you need to find an S54B fan. When replacing, the fan is normally underneath a panel on the underside of the notebook. By removing that anel, you can get access to it. I'm not sure of complete details, so it may be best to look around on google and see what can be found about the dissasembly of the notebook.
