Ok so I'm upgrading the stock G1S hard drive to a WD Scorpio. I have no issues other than this. WHAT TOOL DO I USE TO REMOVE THE STUPID SCREWS DIRECTLY AROUND THE DRIVE ITSELF??? They're some weird shape, and my smallest allen wrench is too small and the next one up is too big. Thank you.

nvm i'm retarded. but! does anyone know what to do about the 1inch gap? the stock one had a rubber piece attached to it to keep it sturdy. should i worry about it?

You should move it form the old HDD to the one you wanna install. It's most certainly a harddrive-caddy! -
Yeah, I tried, but it doesn't fit quite right =\ . I guess it's better than nothing. The one piece was glued onto the other one, but I think it's alright how it is.
-
It should fit, if it was on the other HDD.
You must have something around the HDD,otherwise it'll be a pretty big risk for the HDD to get disconnected or breaking any pins on the connector, because the caddy is there so the HDD will fit tightly and stable.
Can you take any pictures? -
I should have been more specific. I'm talking like maybe a cm or so, but I can tell a difference. It's only on the top of it, the width fits perfectly.
-
If the old HDD had something around it, it should not be removed, just so you know!
It should be installed rock stable, and not anywhere near a minimal poor fitting.
I do wonder how it looks like and what exactly it is your talking about, but it sure sounds like it's something important missing -
After vista is done installing on it i'll take a pic. It was not around the whole thing, it's just a little piece that was jammed up top between the case and the top of the hard drive.
-
Sounds like it's there for stability then
Yeah, it would be much easier to see if it's something important or not with a pic! I'm gonna reinstall vista now too, so i'll check with you soon to see what the picture shows! -
Alright cool. Thanks for the responses.

That's what it looks like w/out anything.
When it has the two rubber pieces.. but the little one is sitting free and really wouldn't prevent the HD from slipping. -
Ah, it's for preventing the drive from slipping out of the connectorThose rubber-thingys shouldn't go anywhere from there even if it's a little loose, where should they go if so?
-
well i was just saying that since it is a little loose, it won't prevent the drive from becoming disconnected if it does move a little. i'm sure it'll be fine.. lol
-
Okey
I'm sure it'll work just fine too!
