    Replacing ide hard drive in r50e

    Ok,got myself a Thinkpad r50e.
    Oh joy (it's faster,and gona be much faster after my fixing/replacing cpu&memory) .
    But,is it possible to install there an 5400 rpm ide drive instead of 4200 one ?
    And where can i get detailed info oo abilities of it's motherboard ?

    yes, you can install a faster rpm drive in your laptop. You can upgrade your 4200rpm one to a 7200rpm one if you so desire.
    Your laptop has an ide/ata/pata interface, so you can upgrade it to any ata based drive which you desire.
    The fastest drive for that interface is the Samsung Hm160HC which is a 160gb 5400rpm drive. The second fastest is the Western digital 250gb 5400rpm drive, which is also the largest capacity drive for the interface. Than the 7200rpm drives take up the 3rd and 4th positions.

    I have the Hm160HC and I reviewed it against the Hitachi 7k100 I have, the wd 250gb drive and the 40gb 5400rpm drive I had in my laptop.

    I second the HM160HC that K-TRON recommends. I bought it. It's very good: fast, cool and quiet.
