    Hey all,

I know how to open a computer and replaced some rams before but ive never get as deep as the motherboard. now my T430 motherboard + keyboard is broken (according to my friend who work in his own small workplace which fixes computer for living - broken because of moisture) However I regret i didnt ask him to fix it at that time and now Im in another country. I want to buy a new motherboard, not very worried on cant put everything back because i do a lot of stuff from scratch, however I see no guides on opening a T430 and I am not sure which motherboard shall I get?

    Thanks a lot.

I forgot to press send last night.... :D

So, take a look near the memory slots or under sodimms. There should be a sticker with FRUxxxxx text. That is your motherboard part number, you can use it to search for replacement part.

    Nope.

You can't put a T420 planar in a T430. Way too many things have changed between the two. Even if it fits physically you'd have to install the T420 keyboard as well, since a T420 BIOS will err with a T430 keyboard...

I think this video was provided mainly for assistance in the disassembly process, rather than to allow a swap, although I could be wrong.
