I'd looking into replacing the screen on an a8jp, which has a 14" 1440 x 900 display but I can't find a replacement panel anywhere. Others in the a8j series (which look cosmetically the same and use almost the same parts) have replacement 14" 1280 x 800 displays available. I really don't care that much about the difference in resolution.

I know you guys can't guarantee that it would work from personal experience with these computers, but generally speaking, would this type of procedure be possible? Do I have any other options for LCD replacements?

Theoretically, it's possible though you'd have to get the part from your notebook vendor. However, no one makes a 14" screen with a resolution higher than 1440x900.

Why do you want a new screen? Is there something wrong with the one you have? I've actually been thinking about upgrading my 1280x800 14" to a 1440x900 display, but that's in the future. I think the company is screentekinc that has displays, they should know a bit about them. If yours is a working screen, and you wanted to trade, I wouldn't be opposed to trying it ;)

What a coincidence. I was looking up "upgrade" the screen on my A8Js because I have the sucky AUO panel which is near-impossible for graphics work. I wanted to swap for the CMO panel (both 1440x900). I asked ASUS tech support for the part numbers. Here's their reply:

    Dear Valued ASUS Customer,

The model number for the screen you are requesting is:

    CMO N141C1-L02 REV. C1(Glare) 18G2414069D1
    14.1" WXGA+ (1440 x 900)
    or there is

    CMO N141I1-L03 REV. C1(Glare) 18G2414069E3
    14.1" WXGA (1280 x 800)
You will need to contact the ASUS eStore to purchase it. ASUS does not have a program that changes the screens.

Click on Notebook parts and then select your model.

Thank you for choosing ASUS products.
