Will the E6850 be faster than the x6800 in the sager 9260? i know the fsb is 1.3k, but will the notebook be able to use the processor?

It would most likely work but it would only work at 2.4Ghz. i.e. it has a multi of 9 i.e. 333x9 = 3.0 but 266x9 = 2.4, good luck.

I really think you have no need to upgrade.

The EX6900 will be released around Christmas. Core 2 Duo @ 3.2Ghz, TDP of 75W = Sweetness.

Alright, the X6800 uses a FSB of 1066 (266) with a multiplier of x11
266 x 11 = 2926 i.e. 2.926 or 2.93Ghz (i.e. B3 stepping)
The E6850 uses a FSB of 1333 (333) with a multiplier of x9
333 x 9 = 2997 i.e. 2.997 or 3.0Ghz (i.e. G0 stepping)
When you put the E6850 in the 9260 with it's 1066FSB you get the following.
266 x 9 (the multiplier doesn't change) = 2394 i.e. 2.394 or 2.4Ghz
The 9260 can use G0 stepping (which the E6850 uses) so theoretically the processor 'should' work. But why use it when you can get a E6700 (2.66Ghz) for a few bucks less and get more speed from it.
Replacing the processor in sager 9260
