    Repurposing External Hard Drives as Internal Hard Drives ?

    Hello,

    I've purchased a Clevo P775TM recently, with a 1TB SSD as primary storage. I was looking into bulk storage options, and realised I've a few 1 and 2 TB external hard drives lying about. The 1TB ones are WD my passport and the 2TB ones are Toshiba ones.

    Would there be any problems with removing the hard disks from the enclosures and using them as Internal drives ? These drive are a little old, so they use SATA II 3 Gbps interface. Would there be any any issues with the firmware or drive controllers ?

    As long as the drive uses a standard SATA interface (some external models have proprietary connectors), it should work fine.

    @arkob145 WD is probably native USB, while Toshiba could be either SATA or native USB 50/50. There should be no issues as long as they're SATA and you can physically fit them (Toshibas in particular can be 12.5mm height instead of old standard 9.5mm / new standard 7mm).
