Despite having discussed this a little bit in the "New SSD Thread," I'm making a separate thread.

    1) I've read that the X-25E 32GB, even with really 29.8GB (binary) of space, actually contains 20 2GB memory chips (I would have thought it be 16). Can someone check to see if the X-25E 64GB also contains 20 (4GB) memory chips?

    2) If the X-25E 64GB contains 20 4GB memory chips, then it sounds like that the "real" maximum capacity is 80GB, with ~20GB of space that is not user accessible. My question is this: could the max address of sectors be increased?

You can use the HDAT2 program (download here) to change the max address of sectors for your drive. When you run the program, after you select the SSD, choose the "SET MAX (HPA) ADDRESS" menu. I'm not asking any X-25E 64GB SSD owners to muck around with these settings (there could be adverse affects), but when you get to the screen like this can you post the number of sectors for the "Native area" and the "User area"?

Take a look at this pic:

It's blurry but if you read it the chip says:

    29F16G08CANC1

Front and Back picture(the three pictures below the weight measurement one), 10 chips each.

    On the naming the F 16, the "16" means 16 Gigabit, or 2 Gigabyte. 2 Gigabyte x 20 = 40GB.

What's likely is that 4 out of the total of 20 chips are dedicated to the controller purpose(often what they do in enterprise SSDs), which means the maximum allocatable capacity might be the 32GB.
