So, apparently by brother was also looking to buy an 24" LCD as well.
He's pretty much open for anything, but here are the option so far:
BenQ G2400W ($379.99 shipped w/ google checkout) http://www.buy.com/retail/product.a...43420&Type=PE&Category=Comp&Gad=0&dcaid=15889
LG L245WP-BN: ($589.99 shipped) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824005089&Tpk=l245wp
BenQ FP241W ($463.50 shipped) http://superdigitalmedia.com/product_info.php?manufacturers_id=11&products_id=2358
BenQ FP241VW ($415.50 shipped) http://superdigitalmedia.com/product_info.php?manufacturers_id=11&products_id=2372
Samsung 245BW ($324.75 shipped (technically $450 due to site's regulation)) http://superdigitalmedia.com/product_info.php?manufacturers_id=11&products_id=2372
Gateway FHD2400 ($396.75 shipped (technically $450 due to site's regulation)) http://superdigitalmedia.com/product_info.php?products_id=2365
NEC MultiSync LCD2470WNX-BK ($561.75 shipped) http://superdigitalmedia.com/product_info.php?manufacturers_id=89&products_id=2455
In my opinion, I think the LG L245WP is arguably the best out of all, but the price is too steep right now![]()
The videocard he will be using is the same as mine ( nvidia 8800gtx ) with only DVI output.
Lastly, anyone know if superdigitalmedia site can be trusted? Are those items refurbished or something (although they said their items are 'fresh' in the site info? They're extremely cheap.
So, what do you guys think is the best bang for the bucks?

I would recommend the Samsung 245BW. NEC MultiSync monitors are also good. Consider the Dell E248WFP as well.

I love my Dell 2407WFP, and the newer 2408WFP is rated even better; you may wish to add it to your comparison.
If you have the money, I'd avoid the Samsung 245BW and the Dell E248WFP. Not because they're horrible monitors, but they use TN-film LCD panels. TN panels are currently limited to 6-bit color, so they interpolate, which doesn't give quite the color quality of the S-PVA panel used in the 2408. Also, TN panels have the poorest viewing angle compared to S-PVA or S-IPS panels, and their blacks are usually not as dark.
Of the panels you listed, the LG is probably the better choices. BenQ has had some of financial issues over the past few years, and I'm not sure I fully trust their long-term stability as a company, but it's hard to say, and they're probably the second choice if you're set on those choices.
For a lot of really good info, check out http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/ . The new Dell 2408 is compared to the LG, BenQ, and Samsung. -
Avoid the TN panel. Get the LG.
Request: 24" LCD Recommendation (lots of options)
