I just got my new Envy 14 running a ATI Radeon 5650, but when I
plug in my S243HL through an HDMI there is a black strip around the edge of the monitor even when I have the correct resolution settings, It worked fine with my old laptop so im not sure if there are settings I need to change, I havent installed any drivers for the monitor because the acer site only has it for windows Vista, is there some setting in the ATI panel I need to change for this?

Ok i downloaded that but it doesnt have an option for 1920 x 1080, the ati
catalyst control center only has these options. When I put it on 1680x1050, it atleast fills up the entire screen but distorts the image and is not clear.

    any ideas?

it looks like u have a 16:10 res monitor so u have to use 1920X1200... i think it might be a good option to move this gaming section where ppl no more about drivers etc..

1680x1050 _is_ 16:10, so if that resolution is distorted, his monitor certainly isn't a 16:10 monitor.
