I noticed on most 13 in, 14in and 15 in laptops that i am looking into buying, they all have a common resolution of 1366x768. How often does the resolution change (like when will release something bigger)?. Its odd on how a 15inch laptop shares the same resolution of a 13 inch, waste of money to get a bigger laptop for a crappy screen when i can just buy the 13 inch

Because laptops are cheap and cheerful these days. You need to pay more for higher resolution.

How often the resolution changes really depends on both the market and whether or not someone chooses to make a higher resolution a standard. If anything, resolutions overall have dropped from 1-2 years ago. If you're wondering when (base) resolutions are likely to increase again, I suspect not until a new video standard comes in (like the recent push for HD).

My friend's 11-inch netbook has 1366x768 and so does the 16-inch Toshiba A660. Appalling. :p

You can get higher resolutions on more expensive laptops, but the cheapo ones are pretty much all 1366x768 from 11 inch all the way up to 16!

Laptops with large screens (14"+) and low resolutions (1366x768) are cheap. Most people have no idea what resolution is... they simply see one 14" laptop selling for $900, sitting next to another 14" laptop selling for $850, and think that the two laptops are identical.

The people who know what resolution is, and want higher resolutions need to pay for it.
