About to purchase the Samsung 830 SSD....
Newegg offers 2 replacement plans which they say are hassle free and will replace the SSD with a NEW one.
1 Year: 39.99
2 Year: 79.99
what are you guys personal opinion. With this new tech is it better to get the retailer plan or will the manufacturer be a better option as to getting it replaced or if any issues arise?

Tsunade_Hime such bacon. wow
If you just have the manufacturer warranty, you need to RMA and deal with the manufacturer.
With 3rd party warranties, you deal with the insurance underwriters, it all depends on which one it is. -
Personally I'd say stick with the manufacturer. No sense increasing the price by so much when the manufacturer already has a warranty in place. That, and Samsung's very low failure rate would probably keep you out of trouble.

Agreed. Most SSDs sold at this time are pretty solid in terms of reliability.
My advice:
1) make good backups (as everyone should) of all critical / system data.
2) save your $40 or $80 and go w/ the manufacturer's warranty. you can use that savings to offset any cost of the traditional HDD you purchased. -
Thanks for all the advice guys. I fully agree.
