Hello
I was thinking about upgrading panel on my Alienware 15r3 which now has FHD 60hz G-sync panel. I found this panel BOE NV156FHM-N4B(FHD, 144hz, G-sync support), which some people swapped into that AW laptop while retaining brightness control. What I'm afraid about is losing g-sync, which is guaranteed since new the panel won't be whitelisted in the BIOS. My question is, is there any way around it? I read something about editing edid (which is in the panel itself?)to make it look like old panel, or something like that. Is it somehow possible? I guess you can't edit the BIOS since its locked. I know all of this is highly impractical and ineficient and I should just buy new laptop with better screen. I just like to play with this thing and I'm curious. Thanks for all the answers.
