I am moving from vaio to Asus ux301 la , and was thinking of reusing some of the old hardware, which is in the good condition. I had a vaio z, and am trying to reuse optical drive.
with Amazon.com : HDE Slimline SATA 13 Pin to USB Converter Cable : Computer Cables : Computers & Accessories, so want to confirm if this should work fine, in case anyone has
attempted something similar. My second question has me flummoxed, as I am not sure of how to proceed. I had Raid0 on the previous machine, with 2 64G sata drives. I was wondering how to connect the raid controller externally to another machine. Below are few pics detailing the drives; any pointers would help.

You might want to get an enclosure for that drive rather than just a cable, there are plenty available and they aren't expensive.

As for transferring the RAID array: forget it, get your data on an external and transfer it.
