I have decided that I am going to buy the following:

Samsung X-65 and upgrade the following:

    System memory to 4096MB
    HDD to a 160GB 7200 RPM
Add an intel Turbo Memory 1GB Module.
    64-bit Vista Home Premium/Business

The things i like about this laptop are:

    1) They are in stock in quite a few places and a few others i considered are not.

    2) IT has a WSXGA non gloss screen which i prefer for photo editing.

    3) With the upgrades it comes in at approx £1400, which means i am sticking to my sub £1500 budget.

However before i place the order i just wanted to check with you knowlegable people if there is a better option that i am overlooking.

well from what i've seen in benchmarks..if you have 2GBs of ram, the Turbo Mem will slow you down..and with 4Gb..yikes..not sure what will happen

Probably the best deal in the UK at the moment for 4GB is this Transcend module at MemoryC. It works fine in the Samsung X60 plus (and the various other notebooks I have tried it in).

    Why not a 7200rpm 200GB?

Did you see the Asus V1S? (but check the Asus forum for possible battery issues with this model). I'll leave others to suggest alternatives.

Wow that is cheap for 2GB, i was going off crucial prices and the 4GB kit is £175. The wesbite i was looking on only went up to 160GB in 7200, the 200 isn't much more so i will go for that.

Yeah the ASUS V1 looks nice but it has a gloss screen (i think) and i prefer the matte for more accurate colur when editing photos.
