Is it possible to downgrade from DXM05B0Q back to DXM04B0Q on the 840 Pro? I've tried to do it with Magician but it wouldn't let me. Getting really low write speeds with the new fw.

What were you speeds before vrs after the firmware change? I did a bit of searching but could not find anyway to rollback SSD firmware. If it still under warranty I would look into RMA. Have you double checked your BIOS setting for ACHI? Do you notice any issues when you look at the SMART data ? There is also a long thread here: AnandTech Forums

    Before FW update:
    518 MB/sec read
    493 MB/sec writes
    114029 iops random read 64threaded
    78927 iops random write 64threaded
    After:
    518 MB/sec read
    134 MB/sec write
    67283 iops random read 64threaded
    34827 iops random write 64threaded

Its under warranty and I've gotten an RMA twice for dead drives, its in AHCI with trim enabled, and smart data is normal.

That thread is for the firmware I updated from.

I updated too but mine was fine. Are you sure the SSD wan't running GC while you were doing the tests? this can drastically reduce write performance. Have you ran the tests again and are the results reproducible?

The controller does not do GC until 60 min of idle time, the results are reproducible.
