    Ok...

I just received my new HP vista home premium installation DVD...

    Guess what...

It installs vista flawlessly reboots... then I get 800*600 screen res. + windows 98 style windows...

And I get a small tab next to windows button saying "FBI Gui Manager"

And it just does this over and over again... as in
    -Reboot
-Installing Software (which is the screen I get after pressing "FBI Gui Manager"
    -Reboot
    -Installing Software
    -Reboot...
    ..
    .

After about an amazing 4-5 reboots and installation windows it is now back to a recovery manager window (not a screwed up half installed OS) it is creating a recovery partition and it is still doing so

I just restored my HP Pavilion dv2419us and let the FBI Gui Manager process run for over 10 hours. I just restored the machine again as this just didn't seem right. This is running again.

Any ideas? I was asked for any supplemental disks, and don't have any so I just pressed Cancel after the initial recovery was "complete".

    Thanks!

If you want turn off the FBI GUI try this:

    1. press start and type in msconfig in the search box
    2.click on the boot tab
    3. check the box that says no gui boot
    4.click on apply and ok
    5. you may need to restart the computer.

DO NOT TURN FBI GUI PLEASE!
    Here is what I noticed:
    - FBI GUI MANAGER is very important because it is in charge of installing all of the files you are trying to recover and if you turn it off then the copy will be half done and weird.
    - The whole restore process from begining to end lasts no more than 3 Hours
    - When your computer is being restored by FBI GUI SYSTEM at some point will show under " START - COMPUTER" that the space on your C: drive is only 24 Gigs (don't panic) FBI GUI created a partition for a little while, at the end of your 3 hours your whole hard drive space will be available.
    - YOU MUST NOT TOUCH YOUR COMPUTER FOR AT LEAST 3 HOURS...PLEASE LET IT FINISH WHAT IS DOING! BE PATIENT.. DON'T TRY TO GO ONLINE OR CHANGE YOUR RESOLUTION....BE PATIENT (you can click next next next when the Windows welcome screen starts asking you to choose language, keyboard etc)...(when you see that screen you are about 10 minutes to be done.)
    - FBI GUI SYSTEM WILL MAKE YOUR COMPUTER BOOT UP AND TURN OFF ABOUT 25 TIMES BUT FOR NO LONGER THAN 3 HOURS.
    - At the end of the whole process you should have an IDENTICAL copy of your computer when you bought it, (it should have all the junk that comes with a new computer).

    If you end up with:
    -A weird copy
-24 Gig of space in your hardrive
    -3 Hours have passed
-FBI GUI keeps making the computer reboot
Then your installation failed and you have to start all over again (It took me 2 trys)
If nothing works then your disk is scratched or your computer is faulty (probably de DVD reader)

After your copy is fully installed the FBI GUI SYSTEM will NOT ever appear again or make your computer boot up and turn off uncontrollably ever again.

I hope all of this really help someone.
