The last time I was at my local Fry's it was still stocked, but I haven't been in there for at least a year. Just looking at their website you can tell they aren't stocking PC parts nearly as much as before. Thankfully I still have a couple Microcenter's locally. I shop there as much as I can over online stores in order to support them. I love being able to run over there and see a physical product, and their prices and customer service are top notch.

These big box stores don't stand a chance against online retailers unless they are competitive with their pricing.

Even BB has lowered their prices to stay competitive with an aggressive price match marketing.

Fry's (Their slogan: Your best buys are always at Frys?) could have really been competitive against MC, but it is clear that they were trying to do too much with going after BB and competing with MC.

Fry's even had an edge over MC by being able to order online, but their marketing was just really poor; which IMO really sunk the ship for them.

Could have, would have, should have.... Fry's could have been the IKEA of Computers and Home Electronics. It had the whole package with the cafe and all, but whoever was responsible for their marketing, graphics, advertising etc... completely nuked it for them.... sad ....
