    Long story Ill make short.

Picked up a virus. Kaspersky caught it and disinfected. Computer wouldnt run right and lock up in safe mode and regular mode.

Reinstalled XP without partition like idiot and wiped registry.

Lost TONS of programs and data...(Programs are still there, just cant use them. Like they arent installed)

How can I fix this? I have new hard drive coming today, recover disk by friday, but I dont want to lose CS2 and Sony Vega 8.0 (Programs that I dont have reg CD...were on CPU when I bought)

were those programs on the PC when you bought it new??
if not you are almost out of luck...

some highly knowledgeable PC techs might be able to get CS2 working again,, but IMO, your best bet is to install recovery disks,,, then see if those important programs are on the new HDD.. if not.. since you are missing ALL registry entrys for the above PRGS,, you may be outta luck....

if you have important data/characters on the old HDD you might be able to import those characters or data-sets onto the new HDD after you get the queestionalble programs installed

    wish i had better news,

If that software was on your PC when you bought it but you do not have the license keys you have it illegally installed.

I may have to take it in and see what I can do. I have the recovery disk on the way. My last resort would be contacting the previous owner I guess. Thanks for the advice.

The software was on the PC when I purchased it from the original owner. They are valid installs, but the previous owner kept the install CDs and keys. I simply want to not lose what was installed on the computer when I purchased. Illegal or not they were installed and updated by the manufacture just as they should. I dont want to lose them :(

that will be your ONLY hope if you have no backup of your registry...

otherwise, just wait for the recovery disks,,, and then try to get up with the original owner and get the software and the disks,, with registration keys otherwise you are violating software copyrights
