Does anyone have any experience with both these drives? How do they compare? Im looking at the vertex, but it requires firmware updates which is a PITA - i dont really want to deal with it. The runcores however, i havent heard anything about it needing an update...

If you get a vertex now it should not need a firmware update, it should come with it already on there. Id get the Falcon anyways over the Vertex.

Both appeal to me as they offer 120gb but since you only want 30gb you can get a nice Intel drive.

I think the 80gb Intel is on sale for $280 shipped at newegg right now, but they have the 32gb model.

edit nvm the 32gb is the X-25E, it will cost you more than the 80gb X-25M because its SLC.

thanks for the reply, without factoring in the price per/GB and so forth... which is the fastest drive as far as read/write speeds?? I thought Vertex was up there with Intel(slow writes).

As long as i stay within the $200 range or less, im happy. it doesn't really matter how much storage i have. I have a secondary drive (Dell m6400) that i store all my files anyway.. Im looking for pure performance out the gate!!!

Anyone know anything about the G-skills? Is there a big real-world difference?
