I was just wondering about this the other day. Would it be good for notebook to run constantly all day 24/7 and maybe like 365 days like my desktop would? I know, there's the daily wear and tear of everyday usage like any other hardware, but will the wear an tear be the same comaped to a desktop vs. notebook?
You see I have this thing to use torrents... and this is where add the important word that I use torrents constantly. I feel naked if I don't have something downloading ... but thats another story
So yah... would there there be a difference in hardware deterioration considering I'll be losing my desktop capablities? I'm thinking a notebook would be runner a bit hotter with all the compacted hardware... but thats all the difference I see :/ And I don't think the screen would wear in color/contrast would it?
thx in advance ^^

im using a desktop and i dont even leave it on all the time...
and i do torrents too
big torrents..sometimes i leave overnight but turn it off for a bit for a rest..

well.. err... yeah
Just to note, I haven't turned off my desktop for probably more than 12 hours for the entire time I had dsl. And I had dsl for about 1 and half years now. And yes I know, what I'm doing to my poor desktop is a tad extreme... well not really if you think about it. -
I leave my notebook, my desktop, and my xbox on all the time. I do F@H with the cpu running 100% constantly, I also dl/seed torrents.
Like all my cpu's ive taken every precaution with my notebook. I've undervolted it and it sits on a cooling pad to ensure the lowest temps. I've also applied arctic silver ceramique and lapped the stock heatsink to improve heatsink efficiency. And of course I take a few seconds every other week to clean out the fan ports on the lappy and cooling pad.
Even with all this I expect increased deterioration compared to my desktop. It's just so much easier to keep a desktop computer nice and cool. -
I have always left my laptops running 24/7, running %100 F@H. I've never had any issues.

My old 600E is still running, has been on probably 98% of the time since I got it in August 99.

my 6000 has been on almost 24/7 since i got it over a year ago. it's only off when i'm in the car going somewhere.
as long as you keep it cool and dust free; you should be ok.
