I've got this beautiful Clevo M570RU here. And I'm an audiophile. I recently built myself passive noise-cancelling headphones using high quality "speaker" things. Man, they sound great. Now I want to up it a notch. I want surround sound. I found this on Instructables (how to build your own Surround Sound headphones). The thing is that this version uses seperate speaker jacks, seeing as there would be 3 different jacks, each one going to 2 speakers. The Clevo has 7.1 S/PDIF audio. I have no idea what this means (digital SS?). So I'm wondering if there's such a converter to put in three separate audio jacks in it and it has output of digital, so I could listen to my music in surround sound?

    Thanks in advance.

First off, an "audiophile" would know that S/PDIF is Sony/Phillips Digital Interface. Second, that is a digital output so you will need a 7.1 D/A converter and a 7.1 amp to power anything out of it. Of couse, you really don't need the full 7 channels and a 5.1 D/A and amp should work well. Now, you can go to headfi.com and get DIY headphone amps or links to buy them, but it sounds as if you are sorta lacking in the knowledge to put such a system together, but they have a lot of DIY advice on their forums.

Well choo choo, here comes the naughty train, 'cause an ******* is on these forums. No need to be offensive. When I said "audiophile" I meant it literally. I love sounds.

    Thanks for the advice.
