    The s-video adapter will only output the video component of the composite lines. You'll need to get a separate adapter to connect your laptop audio output to the sound components of the composite lines.

    try here:
    http://www.svideo.com/
    they ship to most places and have all you need. For s-video to s-video make sure to check how many pins the tv's input and the laptop's output have as they come in 4 pin and 7 pin sizes.

    All he needs is a 4 pin to composite, if it's 7 pin, that's usually for additional stuff (usually for a component dongle), if it's 4 pin it will fit into the 7.

    Just need something like this, not even a dongle;

    I carry a similar one in my laptop bag and they cost like $2 at most computer or even computer surplus stores.

    As for audio, there's no was around that without going with a big expensive converter box.

    IMO, just do the Svideo to composite (or even 75ohm co-axial if that's all it will take) and then run the audio through separate speakers. Far cheaper, and should be better audio than what ever ships with that old TV.
