    Hi!!!

I have a x700 mobility and I wanted to put a cable to watch films on tv. I bought a s-video s-video cable an a scart connector with input of s-video.
When I try to watch all I have in windows in the tv it displays it but in black and white.
I try all the possibilitis, and the last is modifiing the scart connector.
Can be that my tv can't display this?

    Thanks!

It may be that one of the pins somehwere is damaged, as an S-Video image transmittion consists of a Black and White part, a Brightness part and a colour part..

It could be that the pins for the colour part of the image transmittion are damaged. Sometimes it is impossible to tell wether the port and cable is damaged.

Try another S-Video cable if you have one. If the problem persists, you need to try another TV. If the problem STILL persists, the S-Video port on your laptop is damaged. If you have an LCD/PLASMA screen, they usually have a VGA port on the back, on which you can simply connect your monitor.

Well I think the cable isn't the problem because I tried it in aother tv last week, so I think that my tv is so old ( almost 8 or 9 years) that can display it well, could it be?

yes it could be the S-Video port on the old TV, or possibly something major inside which is faulty.

Just to confirm, your TV does indeed have an S-Video connector, correct?

If so, connect it to your laptop - you then have to switch it over so the TV is used as the primary display. You do that through a combination of [Fn] keys. Check your users manual; on my laptop, it's Fn + F7.

No, my tv doesen't have s-video connector. Only has white, yellow and scart connector. So I bought a s-video cable and a scart connector that has s-video, white, red and yellow connectors.

I put the cable on my s-video out put of the notebook and the other part on the scart connector and the scart to the tv.
I think that the problem is my tv, because the image is displayed but only in black and white

it could be system incompatiblity (PAL/SECAM/NTSC).

Can you change the system on your TV (is it multi-system)?
Or check if you can change the system on your laptop.

I can change in my laptop in many configurations. Here in spain is PAL B/G . But is this that the tv only displays it in black and white.

I think that the tv is so old that can't display it in color.

Well the TV MUST be compatable with PAL if it is around 8 years old. My sony CRT TV is 10 years old and is supports NTSC and PAL...

Well check then. Connect an ariel cable to it and see if it can recieve broadcasts in colour. Try connecting a DVD player or a games console via the composite (yelllow) cable and see if the picture is on colour.
