I've done a lot of searching over the last few days. I know my laptop/desktop replacement is old. It's currently running the GTX 285M SLI configuration. I have been searching forum after forum for upgrade solutions but only found a single GTX 680M installation, a GTX 480M installation, and some ATI installations. I just purchased 2 new Alienware/Dell overstock GTX 765M's from ebay for $171.00. This was cheaper than just about any other MXM card they also only use between 50-75 watts like the 285's. What I'd like to know is, will I be able to put these into my old NP8120/X8100 system? I have never done a laptop graphics upgrade so any help would be greatly appreciated. I am pretty good with tech and have had to do bios and vbios flashes before but if anyone has done something similar please let me know of any issues you encountered or if it's even possible. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the reply @sicily428 . I was considering the 7970m but it was double the price of a single 765m. Also it ran at 100W, which would require a double heat sink I do not have, and did not want to spend $144.00 to get from Eurocom. I was trying to go as cheap as possible for this upgrade. The dual 765m's have just slightly better performance than a 7970m, and just under a 680M. However hind sight being 20/20, the 7970 may end up being the cheapest option after all. The dual 765m's if I can even get them to work will likely require a larger power supply and some heatsink modifications. So lesson learned, I guess I should have done more research before jumping in. I plan to give it a shot anyway and see what happens, just to say I tried. I'll probably be asking a lot of questions and doing a lot of reading on these forums in the near future. Looking forward to learning a lot of new things. :)

I have a single 285 in mine and am thinking of upgrading. What did you end up doing to yours? I really still like this laptop!
