yup, i also got rapid mode disabled, since i can confirm that it actually hurts ur real world performance. unfortunately, its only good for benching!

What's worse, this big lie can cause data loss......
Test example:
I cut / paste a large 10 GB Video file from one partition to the other.........Windows Copy Progress was showing a blistering speed of 800 MB/S
The moment the file was transferred according to the Windows Copy dialogue box, I restarted....
upon the reboot......the file was corrupt......
Reason? the file was never *really* copied, it was just cached to the RAM that was the fake speed that the Windows dialogue box was showing......since I rebooted immediately, the RAM cache never had time to copy the file on to the partition really as it should......thus, data loss.....
When I see a file progress finish, I wanna be sure that it really finished not sit in doubt wondering heck is it still copying in the background or not.....
that's when I researched about this CRAPID and found out that it actually hurts performance and is purely a marketing trick from SAMSUNG, nicely done SAMSUNG! -

I read MOST of the postings here, but maybe missed one. I use the Samsung Magician software to tweak my SSD drive when I installed it. It took my Windows Experience Index from 6.7 to 7.6, because the Samsung mSata 1TB Evo 840 drive was not using caching properly.
Not sure if you tied that, but it made a significant difference on my Alienware M17x R5. -

What version of Windows? 7.6 is pretty slow...
Have you seen this:
See:
http://www.overclock.net/t/1512915/...es-benchmarks-needed-to-confirm-affected-ssds
See:
http://www.overclock.net/t/1507897/samsung-840-evo-read-speed-drops-on-old-written-data-in-the-drive
If you want to know if your 840 Evo is affected, run the SSD Read Speed Tester in the first link.
If you are affected; try running the fix offered by Samsung in October 2014 (though it doesn't seem to work for many, many people) it is called "Samsung SSD 840 EVO Performance Restoration Software".
See:
http://www.samsung.com/global/business/semiconductor/minisite/SSD/global/html/support/downloads.html
If you have installed the above fix/firmware and you still have issues, I recommend to run Puran DiskFresh or MyDefrag with the Monthly Data profile for have your computer run fast for a while again.
Be sure to post before after shots with SSD Read Speed Tester as it accurately monitors speed vs. age of existing files. Other benchmark like tools will write new data and your speed will seem 'good'.
I would also recommend that you do not have Samsung Magician running, nor recommend using it's optimization routines. Many borked systems because of this (I'm surprised yours is still working actually).
If you can; do a clean install after either running the restoration software, Diskfresh or MyDefrag. And don't install Magician unless you have to (we're waiting for a new firmware soon to maybe fix this slow read on old files issue).
I'm not sure if you're running RAPID or not? Again: not recommended if you want the highest speed possible from your system.Spartan@HIDevolution likes this. -

Can someone help me select the right driver ? The test was performed four times. twice with intel Rst driver and twice with msAHCI driver with the benchmark softwares listed above. Thanks

What O/S? What IRST driver? What SSD?
In my experience, the IRST driver is the one that has always given better real world results - regardless of what the benchmarks say.
-
@Phillbspeed You must use a poorly irst driver. The score is too low for an Samsung 850 Pro SSD with this irst driver whether you use win7 or 8.
