    Welcome to NBR!

Both SSD's and HDD's connect through the SATA port. A SSD port doesn't exist.

You'll be happy to know that there is zero (0) difference between the actual physical connection of an SSD and a regular hard drive. Each run on the same SATA specification (and are subsequently backwards compatible) so there is no physical connectivity difference between the two.

With that said, you should be able to drop the SATA storage device of your choice right into the bay without any problems. Just make sure you attach the SATA adapter to your storage device first, if required.

I suspect pictures would be a good thing. Both the old mobo and the new.

I bought an Acer that has a 2nd bay and it doesnt have a sata connector but has a bay. I did a search and found a connector for a second drive. Here is the vendor. Look up your model and if Acer makes a cable they will sell it.

Certain Acer/HP have a SATA adapter to a cable that attaches to the motherboard. It's still SATA.
