Hi,
My wife's computer crashed so I took her HDD (seagate baracuda 1 TB) and I plugged it to a SATA to USB cable.
I plugged into my own laptop using my USB port and it shows as drive F: but when I open the drive it says "this folder is empty" as if there were no files on the hard drive.
When I check the properties of the hard drive it shows that there are 2 gigabytes of used space.
So the data is alive, the drive is OK but I cannot see my wife's files.
Can someone please help me with this issue? Thank you very much in advance.

is this a laptop or desktop drive?

Most likelly you are missing more partitions because 2GB is a pretty small partition and no os would have such a small partition..
Grab gparted, make a USB drive bootable with it and then start diging, with some luck the data ks still there. -
may be the windows "right-management"
check "ResetFilePermission v1.20" (2017)
http://lallouslab.net/2013/08/26/resetting-ntfs-files-permission-in-windows-graphical-utility/
or use a linux live boot cd or stick to read and save all files
linux is not interested in windows permissions
regards sk
SATA to USB cable, HDD is shown but no files in the HDD are shown
