I found that my card reader stopped working after a vista reinstall. I can hear a sound when I plug in a card, the same sound I hear when I plug in a usb drive. but no new device show up in My Computer.
I checked device manager and windows says my 'standard compliant sd host controller' driver is up to date.

Did you install any drivers for it (not the built-in Vista one)? I had to install drivers for my card readers.
