The Notebook Review forums were hosted by TechTarget, who shut down them down on January 31, 2022. This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    doesn't SED still have some thickness? IIRC it isn't really suited to notebooks, at least in the current design, since the display is an inch thick or so.

    SEDs also don't offer much of a power advantage over LCDs. IMO, OLEDs will probably replace LCDs in the near future.

    SEDs may not offer a power consumption advantage over LCDs, but contrast ratios and pixel response times are much better.

    That being said, I do agree the OLED is probably the preferred next gen technology for portable devices.
