Hello,
I have here two laptops:
Vaio VGN-Z790D
P8800 cpu, 2.66 Ghz, 3mb cache, 4gb ram, 320gb 7200rpm hard drive
Windows experience index:
Processor: 5.3
Memory: 5.8
Thinkpad X200t
SL9400 cpu, 1.86 Ghz, 6mb cache, 4gb ram, 320gb 7200rpm hard drive, 2gb turbomemory
Windows experience index:
Processor: 5.5
Memory: 5.8
I would like to understand why I am getting better scores with the SL9400 than with the P8800.
Regards

I would take windows scores with a grain of salt. While the sl9400 is a low voltage CPU, it still is a pretty potent chip. Dont have experience with the p8800, but Im sure between the 2 there would really be a minimal difference in real world performance.

Clear the c:\windows\performance\winsat\datastore directory on the Sony and re-run WEI. Then the P8800 will score higher than the SL9400 in the CPU score. If not, disable background processes like anti-virus.

If you want cpu benchmarks click the link below.
I cannot find the SL9400 , maybe you can benchmark it and upload to the passmark website, the cpu mark is what you want.

p8800 is quite a bit faster overall and even on windows vista score and win 7 score.
p8800 6.3 win 7 score vs 5.3 for sl9400. You should try again with your p8800 as maybe a background cpu intensive task could have been going on.
