I was looking on ebay for t8300 mobile processor, i found a couple, a few of them were SLAPA based and the others SLAYQ. Whats the difference?
Also would they both work a p6831fx gateway laptop?

Intel uses different S-Spec numbers for different "steppings" or tweaks to the processor core. This usually only makes a difference for things like OCing on desktops, and possibly undervolting ability for laptops . Both will work fine with your Gateway 6831. If say you go to http://processorfinder.intel.com and you see steppings e.g. mBO and mCO (possibly not real revision #s, but they are in Intel's revision format), the one with the middle digit that is farthest away from "A" of the same model number is the latest tweak or revision to that processor.

OK, so I just looked up those two numbers and the processors are the same stepping, which is "M0". These are the latest revision, but probably have different sSpec numbers maybe because of what country they were diffused/maufactured in.

    They are both the same.
But I remember reading somewhere that the two different sSpec nos. are for the Consumer and Business Markets (not OEM).

Bottom-Line: Both will work fine with your notebook....
