I think this should be the right area for this question...
Okay, so I just ordered a p150HM from malibal. I decided to go with the rubberized finish, hopefully not against my better judgment, but I digress.
One of the options they offered for the ram was a total 8gb memory 2 SO-DIMMS, while another option they had for $50 less expensive was 8gb memory 4 SO-DIMMS.
My initial thought was that both would have equivalent performance, it's just that if I ever wanted to upgrade, I could place an additional 4gb ram-slot (technical term?) with the initial 2 SO-DIMM to bring it up to 12gb, but with the 4 SO-DIMMs I would have to replace one, bringing the total increase to 10gb.
I think that sounds right, but could someone enlighten me please?

To take advantage of dual channel, u should always replace 2 so-dimms at a time. But nowadays u can get 2x4gb 1333 for under $50 so that's still a good deal.

Alright. But the performance of the 2vs4 will be the same, assuming equal total memory, no?

Thank you.
